He would need to get word to the Queen, would need to give her time to sort this out, but there were other Guards, and others with a better hand in politics. She trusted him to handle those things that were messy, complex, that she did not need to hear.
He'd already made his decision. He would disappear with Ravus, at least until the other was properly settled. And for that they'd need to get out of this country and the adjacent ones.
