I had some chance to experiment at home, but -- always in secret. I realize now there was much shame attached to it, and little trust.

[ He smoothes Olivine's hair again, very much reveling in the way intimacy is allowed and appreciated. He...possibly likes this part more than sex, though he doesn't want to choose. ]

For what it's worth, I'm happy to try things for you, so long as I know you want them sober.

[as someone who's sure he wouldn't have wanted to go back, if this had been a mere two years ago, he can't blame Basch at all. being a good person... who can really say what makes one "good" anyway? but he can't help laughing softly at that—in understanding, not at all judgment.]

That's fine, too. If you did want to try something different, I'm... sure I can think of plenty, if you asked. But I... most like the feeling of connection, so it doesn't matter much how creative it is.

I'm sorry if I made you worry. [There's still fondness to the apology; he's aware that it might not be necessary to say, but he is sorry.] It's... almost funny to think how alike we knew we were when we met, but we still worried.

[fingers find Basch's to entwine them, thumb brushing over the other's skin. Funny how neither man realised that maybe the other was feeling just as awkward for similar reasons.]

[ It's much easier to stay relaxed and not become self-conscious of his own misreadings with Olivine stroking his hand like that, staying snuggled in close. Touch is a lot easier to read than anything else. He threads his fingers in Olivine's hair, bending the other's head so he can kiss it's crown. ]

It is. I'm glad we reconnected and got to speak again.

[ Which is maybe... a light euphemism for holding a man in his bed after stroking them off together, but it is what this place is. ]

[His eyes close as Basch kisses the crown of his head, staying there for at least a moment after. There's almost no thought to the words when he speaks them, comforted in the other's warmth.]

I didn't think it would be so difficult to understand people after watching them for so long, but it seems to keep happening. I'm very lucky that the citizens have always been devout enough to be patient with me, so that I can learn.
